Stuttering is the main physical manifestation of fear of being judged while talking. I’m truly not trying to be a jerk, but it’s like asking “why do we mostly only flinch when something suddenly appears to hit our face? Or, why do I not flinch when nothing is coming at me?”. That’s an imperfect analogy, but I’m trying to point out that stuttering happens mostly only *because* you are not talking to yourself. The anxiety is not “maybe connected”. *it is the reason*
