Mine was lifetime too... I began at age 4-5 and stuttered until age 70. I had an abusive childhood and carried mostly unconscious anger, fear and resentment though I was consciously aware of resentment toward my parents. I’d been through speech as well as psychotherapy many times in my life but my childhood had not been dealt with adequately. The most recent therapist helped me deal with my feelings and after s year in therapy with her, I realized I NO LONGER was stuttering! I also no longer suffered from daily disabling migraine headaches, anxiety or depression. It was a miracle, but I’m fully fluent now. I realize not all stuttering is the result of trauma , but if you recognize yours is tied to one event or a specific period of your life, emotions can be a trigger as in my case. I wish you good luck. Feel free to correspond. Sue
