There is definitely an immediate established fear when I come across situations where I know there's a pretty good chance I have to say my name. Hard sounds are among the worst for me, so of course my name has to start with a "B". I've both found and adapted that situations where I'll most likely only meet this person once, or times where my name isn't immensely important (or bonus if it is, as it's my official name), saying my full name, Benjamin, tends to be much smoother on me and much easier for the listener to understand, particularly because of the added "jamin" which helps distinguish it from any other name. Just saying "Ben" is surprisingly much harder for me to say, as well as having the added effect of being so short and incoherent that it will get confused with basically any name, from Edd or Ned to some crazy, made-up names they hear like Bem or Emn. Sometimes, if I'm just ordering food or something and they ask for my name or some random guy walks up to me to pitch me something and asks, I'll just say "Frank" instead and move on with my life.
