Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. As you pointed out, if we don’t like our own stuttering or feel afraid to show it, how can we expect others to accept it and be comfortable with it? It’s something to think about. Why do we see so many people in this subreddit recommending word substitutions instead of just stuttering on a word they’re afraid of? Can someone really claim to accept stuttering if they’re actively avoiding in this way? yea sure.. for some of us “accepting stuttering” means it's OK using word substitutions.. that's fair! that's the thing, this suggests that "accepting stuttering" is tied to our own [value judgments](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value_judgment). I think the issue is that everyone has their own negative value judgments tied to their stutter self-concept, or their stuttering identity, and those internal judgments can actually make stuttering worse
