Ah I'm in the US and started college this past fall. I think my advice would be to do as much as you can to gain confidence. This mostly means talking social risks such as talking to new people, going to events/parties, speaking in front of groups and generally putting yourself out there. It means putting yourself in situations where you have to talk and make new first impressions. I wouldn't worry about coming off as the most fluent person in the world. Just do the best you can. Eventually you'll realize that you can make it out there. This might not cause your stutter to completely go away (mine hasn't), but it'll give you the courage to keep talking even when you are nervous or even if you do stutter. It'll show you that things can only be so bad.
