People don't usually have the patience to talk to me for very long, and sometimes they feel uncomfortable, but most of my friends and acquaintances seem to like me okay. I seriously go out of my way to try to be likeable and make up for my speech problems though. I can't talk, but if I'm with people I always want to be the one helping out. It doesn't make me less lonely, but at least I'm not just hanging around stupidly and uselessly. So like if I can't play a game that involves a lot of talking because I'll slow things down and make it boring for everyone I'll put away the last game we played, or clear up, or make popcorn or coffee, or go in the other room and do dishes. At church I help with the sound, and clean up the sanctuary and take out the trash, pretty much I do anything I can think of to keep busy. Partly I think I started doing stuff like that to avoid socializing, but I think it also helps people at least not mind having me around.
