Volunteers needed: donate your voice to build a speech recognition AI that understands stuttering TLDR: Comment below if you'd be willing to provide stuttered speech samples to train a speech recognition AI that understands stuttering. ​ Happy international stuttering awareness day! I've always been frustrated that technologies like Siri and Alexa don't understand me because of my stutter, so I've spent the last three years teaching myself machine learning so I could build a speech recognition AI that understands stuttering. I haven't been able to complete the project because there's not enough data to train the AI on. If I had a huge dataset of transcribed speech from people who stutter, I'm confident that I could make Siri, Alexa, and other speech recognition algorithms understand stuttering. I don't have the money to compensate participants for building a dataset, but I was hoping that the online stuttering community could come together to crowdsource a dataset. I'd like to gauge interest in the project and need to see if enough people would be willing to donate their time. If you're on board, please drop a comment below.
