How I practiced from 'stuttering when alone' to 'speaking fluently when I'm alone': * gaining confidence in the ability to speak without symptoms (reinforcing natural automatic speech) * removing reassurance-seeking, i.e. not using techniques anymore * not paying attention to stuttering (i.e. becoming tolerant against the incorrect evaluation / perception) * believing in progress * allowing mistakes * building discipline * subtracting (instead of adding) control * working on the decision with a reason to breathe out and move my articulators (motivation and goal). What I didn't try back then was: 'working on the decision without a reason' (basically no motivation and no goal), which is likely equally as important
