I used to think this way, I'm moderate to severe overt and I figured people could figure it out themselves. It's honestly shocking how many people don't. It's sitiational for me. Casual interactions I typically don't bother but for longer term relationships I usually say something. Last week I figured out a colleague in a weekly group video call may have had had no clue. They joined a group that already knows me so there was no heads up. I've been participating in this group for over a year. They interrupt me EVERY time I block so I called them on it They went with "oh I had no idea" It's possible they're trying to squirm out of being held accountable for being rude, it's a crap excuse but people use it. Or, perhaps, they really don't know anything about stuttering and they've got other stuff to think about than my speech patterns. Either way, now they've had my lesson on how to listen to me and we can get the work done. In my world, self advertising is mostly to get everything clear from the beginning.
