Unfortunatelly the more senior you become the more verbal communication is required from you, even if you decide to stay on the "software side" and not get into management roles. Of course it depends on the company, the client you are working for and your team but in general with experience (along with an increase in paycheck) comes mentoring junior engineers, more meetings, presentations etc.
