I actually participated in a SpeechEasy study in college and ended up buying the device. But it mostly takes up room in my sock drawer now. At first, it worked like magic. Like, really amazing. Went from probably a moderate stutter at the time to almost completely fluent. The problem was that after a while (6 months?) the effectiveness really started to drop off. I think this was really due to the novelty wearing off and my brain starting to "tune out" the little voice in my ear. I've heard anecdotally that that's a fairly common experience, but of course your mileage may vary. That was also over 10 years ago (now I feel old...), so they may have changed since then.
