Way to go. I am 61 now and fluent much of the time and get asked to give talks regularly. Of course the day I agree to give the talk is never the day I try to do the talk ;) In the end, all the techniques only take me so far and your ideas are exactly what I try to fall back on. Most of the time, once I accept my speech, it becomes manageable again. Letting go of anything used to always be a struggle. Nowadays, I begin every talk by looking around the room, noticing that I am the worst talker in the room, remind myself that I was asked to speak and then I laugh. Usually works out and when it doesn’t, I ask lots of questions. Study after study shows that when people encounter a person who mostly listens, they rate that person as highly intelligent. Meditation and Buddhist practice is how I learned to let go with a lot less resistance. Takes years, though.
