Frankly, it's BS to suggest that a speech therapist can't help you because they don't know what it's like. It doesn't work for everyone, but that doesn't mean it's useless. Great for you, but I'm at a healthy weight with no breathing problems and I still stutter. I agree that being confident may lessen it though, but I think every stutterer knows that it can get worse if you're in a bad mood.
