No way to control a stutter is weird , if it works , its a good tool to have. I think a person with a stutter never really gets rid of it , but they can control it to the point , where people might not even know they have one. Obviously no two stutterers are the same. Personally i've had mine for 55 years. It was fairly bad when i was young , but these days while it's still there and always will be , i might not stutter for months , all depends on the variables , if i'm tired or anxious, same as most in that respect. Some things i've done for specific types of stutter over the years. Not thinking about what you're going to say , using different words , control your breathing , take a deep breath to calm yourself , don't mull if your going to stutter or not. But it's important to recognise that a stutter can control you , so if you control your stutter, it can't control you , and if it's not controlling you you won't stutter. I often think when important things are happening, that stuttering is not an option. It's about determination for me , ive been best man, at a friend's wedding , and was like 200 people there , and loads to organise , so stuttering wasn't an option , simple as that , so really will power and determination counts for a lot.
