It’s really interesting to see this put in to steps. But humans can consciously move some muscles even if we can’t control every step that makes it happen. If I want to raise my arm it happens, because I wanted it to. Thankfully I don’t have to consciously think through every step to do it. Could you imagine how much more exhausting and time-consuming everything would be if we had to focus on every single muscle fibre and chemical process? And for people who can’t voluntarily move their muscles (think ALS, paralysis, cerebral palsy) it doesn’t matter how hard they think about moving the muscle or how much they want to. They could be the worlds lead expert on how muscle activation works but the knowledge alone wouldn’t cure them. We’re only conscious of steps 1 and 17. I’m not sure how any of us could hijack our brains and make adjustments to any of the other steps.
