I want to say it doesn't get in the way of me meeting people, as I'm normally social when calm, but it does. There have been plenty of moments where I would have probably made new friends/connections but stalled upon realizing the utter terror of approaching someone and stammering my first few words. Some days are easier than other though, its all based upon the energy of the room at the time. First dates are easy, light stammering, but its rare. Once you get comfortable it clearly goes away. I'm not sure how my partners may have exactly received my impediment as I haven't discussed it with them, nor have they ever asked. I normally treat it as non-existent and it really doesn't show up that much. Sorry if I don't have much information, but I can say it DEFINITELY anchors on approach anxiety and boosts it by 200%. It gets depressing, but can definitely be conquered by positive thoughts and just putting yourself out there. :)
