I always say it before job interviews or some other important event. Especially if they are in English, which is not my native language. All of the interviewers have always been receptive and told me "don't worry". It always takes the pressure on my side and I always stutter way less when I do this. I also became aware that with the more interviews I have and the more experienced I become, I always stutter way less because I'm much more confident with it. Sometimes, I even reply to job interviews only as a test to see how it goes and to prepare for the job interviews that I really want.
