I find that I do the same thing. I feel like my stutter has conditioned me to have short responses in conversations because I dont want to stutter. But now I just force myself to say what's on my mind more and not second guess it. I feel the hesitation and thinking about what I want to say makes my stutter worse in my experience. I just try to say what pops into my head without over thinking it. It helps me to carry out longer convos. Hope this helped a little!
