It might be a psychological thing, I don't know. Also salt isn't a diuretic (correct me if I'm wrong) . Diuretics reduce the release of ADH (anti-diuretic hormone), which causes water to be drained from the body. Salt, on the other hand, does the opposite. It stimulates the release of ADH to recirculate water in the body in order to balance the concentration of salt.
