My diazepam prescription helps me. When I have it is the only time I can talk on the phone to people or order what I want at the drive thru. I realize and understand the dangers of these medications but I’d trade the downsides to be able to effectively communicate with people. Something about the calming effect makes it easier to not get blocked on words and to take my time without trying to consciously do it. This is only a personal anecdote and everyone is different but it helps me for sure. It does carry a lot of downsides but at the end of the day it’s up to the person to decide if the trade off is worth it.
