As a life-long stutterer, who is in the military part time and pursuing a job in law enforcement, I get it. But the worst thing you can do is not try. Most of the time, when people with stutters falter, it’s because they’re afraid of people’s reactions to them stuttering, not because of the stutter itself. At least this is my personal experience. You have to force yourself out there. Believe it or not, a lot of people don’t really care, they just often don’t know what to do. If they do know, they more than likely won’t care anyway. If you have a prominent tick accompanied with your stuttering, or if it’s so consistant you can’t say a single word ever, what you should really consider is speech therapy.
