I had a good night a few months ago One night in a hotel room, my friend encouraged me to open up about my stutter in front of him, so I began to consciously use my strategies. I wasn't embarrassed to start over the sentence when I got stuck. I tried and tried again until I could say it to him fluently. It began to get easier. I was sitting near the hotel desk and he was lying on the bed a few feet away. He asked me for the phone number on the room service menu in front of me. I was about to get up and walk over and hand him the menu, but I realized that I didn't have to. I stayed seated and read the numbers to him. It was a good night.
