Lets fight War analogy for stuttering In the analogy, stuttering consider as a war that we should win. Now blocks and other types of disfluencies are the enemies. And you are the fighter. At present without any exercises and techniques, you are just fighting without strength, skills and weapons. Imagine, you are in the middle of the fighting field, trying to dodge enemy attacks and getting wounds daily, making you more weak. So let us give you strength, skills and weapons to fight. Strength: you have to feel calm(breathing exercises) and the part of the body which are used to produce sound should have strength to perform task and in relax mode, tongue, mouth, vocal cord and stomach. You can find exercises for all of them on youtube. Weapons: you need weapons, those are the stuttering modification and fluency shaping techniques. You are not expecting winning a war without a weapon. Choose one, which is made for you (try and error method). Skills: well, you need skills to fight. Learn how to use the weapon, train with it daily. Make fighting with it like your second nature. Stuttering is like diabetes, like diabetes you have to take medication daily, you have to practice exercises and techniques daily for stuttering to live life happily. This is the harsh truth. At frist, it will take more time of your day, later less. I know there is not only stuttering that we are dealing with, we are also dealing with thousands other life problems daily. That is why it is hard to do all of this. This war analogy, I am thinking for a long time. This is completely made by me, I am just over thinker. There is no evidence or research supppporting this analogy, it is just way I am thinking about stuttering. So take it as it is.
