You sound like a great person. I wish there were more people out there like you. I work as a server at a drive in and it never ceases to amaze me how few people there are out there who simply are super nice people and overlook a stutter and just want to get to know you. I would recommend the book Out With It by Katherine Preston. Also there is a great man I have been seeing off and on, since I was a kid, named Tim Mackessey from Atlanta, GA who could give you some insight as well. He grew up with it since a kid and has even been able to (mostly) overcome it. There is an association as well, the National Stuttering Association that can help you out quite a bit. Their great people. I wish you the best of luck and please message me with any questions you have. I am now a 22F and have had this stutter since I was 9 years old so I can tell you just about anything else you would like to know about it.
