We all have bad days. You don’t know what was going on in the mind of the server. Perhaps their job sucks, perhaps a customer was just rude etc etc. It isn’t safe to assume a strangers reaction is directly linked to your social interaction. Regarding your future. Where are you bringing value? What do you want to do for a living? What are your personal strengths? For the majority of jobs your stutter will typically be irrelevant. Perhaps you take a bit longer to express yourself but you do express yourself and it is fine. You can find work arounds.. I have had presentations where I have recorded it before hand. I have said “I have a stutter, I pre recorded this, I’ll take questions at the end.” For most jobs, you will get more comfortable the more you do it. Ask a stranger for the time and the first time can a struggle. Do it ten times in a day and you will find it easier. A job is the same. First few weeks of nerves, doubts and paranoia. Then you start fitting in, succeeding and growing in confidence.
