My speech therapist says it’s because we can’t see the other persons reactions on the other line. My theory, is that it’s a total lack of control, increasing the fear. We can do nothing if the person decides to hang up. This is interesting that it happens with people close to you. I’m assuming they know you stutter. Do they frequently interrupt you?
