Was mocked for my stutter for the first time in 2.5 years… I’m in college and work part time as a cashier at a major grocery chain. This older lady comes in my line and starts off with “did you vote for [one person] or [another person] yesterday?” Already getting red flags. I went to explain “I didn’t as I’m registered in another state; I’m down here for school” but I struggled getting the first “I” out and it came out like “I…I…I…” and she interrupted me mid-stutter and mocked it right to my face. This hasn’t happened since 2020 so I was just shocked. Wasn’t angry, sad, or anything, just in pure disbelief. I stopped what I was doing and just stared at her because I couldn’t believe she just did that. She knew she did something wrong because she started to not apologize, but play it off like she was just poking fun. Once she left and I had time to process what happened, that’s when the anger set in.
