I think there’s a key distinction. The fact stuttering isn’t usually a life-altering characteristic is why it hasn’t been bred out of the gene pool despite it being a genetic quirk. I’m sure there were hundreds of speech impediments that existed 100,000 years ago that nobody knows about because they impacted gene survival. This doesn’t mean that people don’t discriminate against stuttering but it’s on the stutterer to not let how others react or treat them impact their view of themselves or behavior.
