I went as a kid, probably 7 or 8 and it also didn't help. Being more mature at 20, I was more able to understand what the therapist was telling me. It really helped a lot. That was now 24 years ago, so my memories of it are vague at best, so I can't give you a concise answer, but I'm really glad I did it. I still stutter like a motherfucker on occasions, but those occasions are much fewer and far between.
