I am happy to hear your feedback and I am replying to this before I go read your post that you reference… 1) if you hadn’t agreed with the not pointing out the issue to the child I probably wouldn’t have responded at all, but it shows that you’ve thought about this a lot. 2)if ANYONE knew things about stuttering and the relationship to neural plasticity and being able to ‘treat’ someone under the age of 6, it would almost go without saying that modern medicine and science would have a better grasp on the truly enigmatic condition of adult stuttering. So I guess my point is, since we can’t ‘fix’ adults yet, I wouldn’t send a my young child who has a very high likelihood of growing out of it, to a speech therapist. That’s just my personal opinion regarding my lifelong disability and my fear my genes might lead to my children having to go through the same. I personally would sacrifice an arm for my voice. I hope I get to see science conquer the baffling affliction that is a lifelong stutter/stammer. Cheers!
