For a few months, while blocking, I bit my cheek and got ulcers. I consciously stopped doing this because ulcers suck. Generally try to stop pushing your tongue up against your teeth. This will not help you get out of a block and it is giving you ulcers. Try to release that tension to ease out of the block. A stutter is an involuntary pause or repetition while talking. Giving yourself ulcers, pinching yourself, leg tapping, losing eye contact are coping mechanisms that stutters adopt and can, with effort, stop doing. I am not perfect, I have shit eye contact. I am working on it and it helps when my friend calls me out on it.
