I feel that. Thats why i avoid group hangouts, i always prefer one on one chatting haha and i know long term its not good for ACTUAL IMPROVEMENT to our speech problem. Right now im actually trying to work on it which is something I avoided doing. I just started taking my b1 vitamins again this time im taking it everyday until the bottle is empty and even if i don't see any improvements. And for physical self therapy im reading books everyday aloud to familiarize myself with where my speech should be coming from for about 5 to 10 minutes and then im stretching vowels in words to again retrain my brain to do it in interactions for about another 5 to 10 minutes. Yesterday I started another exercise while reading, this one is humming and reading at the same time to feel that phonation buzz in my mouth( that exercise and the vowel stretching i got from William perry's stuttering book). Months back i tried the phonation speech like dr mort cooper taught in his book which is a original approach than what William perry teached and I HAD DAMN WELL GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH IT CUZ I WAS TALKING SMOOTHLY FROM MY MOUTH THE ENTIRE TIME but the only drawback was it didn't feel and sound natural to me. Maybe im the only one but i noticed when i stutter im squeezing my chest muscles really hard and my throat feels strained to hell that i stop breathing lol and so dr mort cooper and William perry teaches to talk from the mouth with phonation and not from your throat and chest. Good luck 👍
