It’s never too late to go to speech therapy. In terms of helping him, I would have a candid discussion with him about what he would like you to do to support him (if you haven’t already talked to him about this). If you’re financially able, there are speech therapists he can see who should be able to teach him useful techniques (like fluency shaping) which could help with his stutter.
