>*"are there any tips for talking slower? "* There was a big post or comment about this 1 year ago explaining all the ways to talk slower. You can look it up.. but from what I remember, something that was said, is: * You don't have the talk slower pace wise, but if you just divide the phrase into pieces then your speech will be much slower * Also, you can use the same speed you are used to, but just make more pauses in between. And during a pause, so think about your listener.. like, you can think if he is still following you, or understand your message, or if he thinks you speak too fast, or if he thinks you can phrase it better, or more funny, or in a clearer way * You can also, say the phrase as fast as you normally do, but after each phrase, you simply give the listener more time to reply to you, even if it's just a nod from them.. then you know they are okay with it, and then it's your turn. More in the sense of a turn-based conversation instead of one-sided conversation * If you think more about what and how you want to say it (planning overload) then your speech will get slower also * If you do other activities while speaking and you focus on the multitasking, then your speech will get slower * You can download a free app on your phone called "metronome" and then, check how many words per minute you speak, and then slow it down using the metronome. It's really easy to use * Another way is to immerse yourself in the listener (or a famous person on tv) and copy or imitate his speaking style and speaking personality and speaking speed. It's not about convincing yourself to speak slower, but you are acting, you are going from the assumption to play a role and then it usually works. Because convincing is execptation or trigger related, while acting a role you can do immediately without evaluation. If you use this kind of logic you can think of many other options.
