The being able to say anything you want anytime you want to is a dream. 4 years ago I became totally fluent for 2 1/2years, probably because of an antipsychotic called Abilify. It’s a partial Wiagonist that b works at the D2 receptor. It has been effective in treating Tourette’s Syndrome and some stutterers with Tourette’s have improved when being treated with Abilif. I had to stop talking it because it prevented any sleep. I became so depressed about my stuttering returning after that short gift of fluency that I employed my doctor to start the Abilify again. It’s very disheartening, a tease, to be able to say anything anytime and having that experience caused anything that might help again, regardless of any downside, to be worth it. It’s much too soon to experience any speech fluency yet and there are no insomnia symptoms yet. Just because that drug, Abilify helped me in the past, doesn’t guaranty it will be effective for me or any other stutterer. It’s a physiological issue. Each of us has a unique dopamine response. I’ll keep our group posted. This has the potential to help others, realizing everyone has his own neuro-chemical situation. Good luck to everyone who is fighting this puzzling disorder.
