It’s definitely super tough. My speech has gotten a lot better over years but I still feel the same anxiety in terms of joining conversations or saying exactly what I want to say (sometimes I’ll just say the things I know I can out smoothly). The biggest thing that has helped me has been working retail, it forces me to break out of the fear of talking and just get through it. And I for sure stutter on my name, I dread having to introduce myself. Luckily I’ve been open about that to my wife and she will introduce me if we’re together, which is a big relief that tends to calm me down when meeting new people and I can somewhat control my speech.
