“Being able to say whatever you want whenever you want is not all it’s cracked up to be.” My friend said this the other day and it threw me for a loop. I think he was mostly joking. But it’s been on my mind. I was mad at him at the time, but it is kind of interesting…. We were talking about stuttering and he said something like, “I know you probably wish that you didn’t stutter, but being able to say whatever you want is not as good as you might think. I have to listen to all the stupid s*** that comes out of my own mouth, and once it’s said you can’t take it back. Sometimes I wish i was forced to slow down and think before I speak.” Sometimes when I say something stupid or regretful, I think, dang why couldn’t I have blocked on *that*? And sometimes I block on something and lose my chance to say it, and later realize it would have been a really stupid thing to say.
