I have a similar story, I used to read aloud in class and answer questions a lot throughout primary school. Then I met a guy who had a stutter and after interacting with him and even imitating him (teasingly) sometimes, one day I got up to answer a question and stuttered for the first time. It all went downhill from there. But when I ask my parents they say I had a stutter when I was just starting to speak but my mum (being an English tutor) used to make me practice tongue twisters and so it vanished but I have no recollection of this. Today I’m 23 just finished medical school and I’m trying to be more outgoing and adventurous. Because I had to change my personality completely because I feared stuttering in public or speaking to friends.
