My 9 year old daughter has a severe stutter she developed from 4. She started babbling/talking early as a baby and has a lot to say as a toddler. I also breast fed her for 2 years and babywore her around everywhere and never let her cry it out at night. No abuse or trauma. There is NO history of stuttering anywhere in the family she has an older brother he doesn’t stutter. I took her to speech therapy about 4 years old this therapist wasn’t skilled enough to help daughters stuttering. We saw another therapist every week for the next 4 years. We spent a fortune as she was the very best. We used the lidcombe program and syllable timed speech we managed to go from a severity level of 9 down to a 0. She was ok for a year then relapsed twice. My daughter spent more than half her life in speech therapy at the age it’s supposed to help them recover the best. We took a break now we have accepted her stutter she is much more fluent. Self acceptance is working for her, it’s ok to stutter. She is now a happy chatter box.
