You didn't answer the question. I don't get the chicken-egg reference. I don't know where you got it into your head that speaking more will cure stuttering. Thats such a simplistic way of thinking if you interpreted it that way. You also strike me as lazy if your not willing to put effort to speaking more everyday and understanding the benefits that can come from it--even from blocking--there is always something that can be learned. The more you speak, the more you will be able to observe yourself and approach managing your speech like a science. Do you journal? Do you know what your triggers are to blocking? Do you understanding the relationship between exercise/rest and stress with stuttering? Do you know what sounds give you the most trouble? Do you specifically know what situations make your stutter more? Do you make an effort to understand it? Are Do you know what words cause you to substitute the most? Do you know what speaking situations you avoid? Do you set short, mid, long term goals? Are you getting outside of your comfort zone and putting yourself in risky speaking situations to desensitize yourself for future speaking situations? Are you well read on all therapy approaches for stuttering and have you tried to see what works and fits with your life? Do you do vocal warm/elocution warm ups? Are you truly self-aware of your stutter? Or does it still confuse you and the way out of it seems a mystery? If so, you need to speak more and observe. You won't figure your stutter out if you don't speak more. Those who are able to manage their speech do so by understanding their stutter because each persons stutter is so unique and depends upon layer upon layer of psychological, mechanical, and situational contexts. Therapist can help, but i've always been a believer that no in this world can help you as much as you can help yourself. To reiterate, you won't know where you need to work unless you speak more LOL I'm wasting my time. You are in that group that i see on the internet that complains and is hopeless about their stutter vs being proactive and working on their stutter from TOP to BOTTOM and understanding that it will require daily commitment for the rest of your life but will get easier over time when you become more self-aware of your stutter---again through speaking/practicing. Continue doing what your doing it doesn't matter to me.
