Basically this, it’s never been an actual issue with the person I’ve been seeing beyond my own confidence. If it’s a first date sometimes I’ll mention up front that I stutter so if I can’t say a word, it happens. Sometimes I’ll wait until I do stutter, then say it then. It’s usually a quick and easy one-off but sometimes they’re curious about it and it’s an interesting conversation piece. One girl I ended up dating for five years on our first date I must have forgotten to tell her. The entire time she thought I was just super nervous and thought it was cute. I brought it up the second date I think I said “sorry my stutters super bad today” and she was like wait, I thought you were just wicked anxious! We had a big laugh over it, and it was a really good memory we brought up for years. TLDR: The stutterer almost always cares more about it than the person they’re talking to in these sort of situations. Own it and you’ll be fine.
