You should definitely read this essay called "Message to a Stutterer" by Joseph Sheehan. It talks about stuttering openly.. which is basically trying to accept yourself as someone who stutters. The more we accept it, at least temporarily, the less we'll think about it and "try to" decrease it. It really helped me a lot.. completely changed my perspective regarding myself and the stutter.. I began to look at it as an asset instead of a liability. I believe it's a gift in the way that it can be a gauge when selecting friends/relationships and it keeps us humble. We have suffered and know what it's like to suffer so we're more sensitive to other people's pain.. empathy. Good luck
