Hi! SLP here - "stammer" and "stutter" are usually synonyms for a speech fluency disorder itself. Each person who stutters experiences it differently, including the types of stuttering that they experience. There are four kinds of stuttering-type disfluencies: 1. Sound repetitions (I w-w-went to the store) 2. Word repetitions (I went to-to-to-to the store) 3. Sound prolongations (I went to the sssssstore) 4. Blocks (I went - - - - to the store) There are also non-stuttering type disfluencies, including interjections (uh, um, like, so), phrase repetitions (I went to the - to the store), and revisions (we went - I went to the store). Those can be experienced by people who stutter AND people with more fluent speech, but tend to happen more often with stuttering. It sounds like you're trying to connect with other adult women who experience more of the second kind of disfluencies?
