Hmm I’m not sure I find it helpful to think about these behaviours as micro-aggressions. Maybe I misunderstand the term but that induces me to think about myself within a certain narrative, as victim, as subordinate, as passive. I started occasionally asking people if they’ve ever met anyone who stuttered before. The vast majority of people said they haven’t. Outside of therapy, I myself haven’t ever met a person with a stutter. So I think there’s a lot of mere ignorance about stuttering. People intend to be accommodating or kind, but sometimes end up doing something offensive (like finishing someone’s sentence, which I also don’t like). Knowing this I have a hard time blaming anyone for an odd ignorant comment. Greater empathy and sensitivity could solve this but, well, If I didn’t have a stutter I’d probably do the same. “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”
