Agreed! Joe Biden, for example, inspired me to work on my stuttering, and the fluidity of my speech has improved significantly since then. (I’m a young adult who has stuttered for a majority of my life, btw). I think it’s good to have a role model to look up to, and we can either choose to look at the glass as half empty or half full. I personally don’t think that people who use celebrities as living proofs of overcoming stuttering have bad intentions. Rather, I believe that they are telling us to not lose hope. Although I may never fully recover from stuttering, given me current age and the supposedly decreased neuroplasticity that aligns with getting older, I am going to continue improving my speech as much as I can. Biden had a severe stuttered into this 20’s, and although speech therapy didn’t work for him in kindergarten, he didn’t give up. He declared a personal war against stuttering, and is now our President-elect. What might work for one person might not work for the next, so you have to experiment and find a method that works for you. Don’t give up, everyone. I know how it feels. I’ve made significant improvements recently, despite having lost hope before. It can improve, and remember - your stuttering doesn’t define who you are in the end. We can still accomplish all of our goals. I wholeheartedly believe it.
