As I matured, I learned to love and value myself. I would no longer my stutter to define me or my worth as a human. It would deal with ME, not the other way around. I met my wife, and have a happy marriage with beautiful children. There are still days where I get frustrated at my speech, don’t get me wrong, but those days are farther between. Others, as they mature, are able to see beyond it to the person underneath, whereas kids cannot. What I always tell young people who struggle with their speech is “it will get better.” And it does.
