Telemarketers are great practices for improving speech Today I received a call from an unknown number, answered it and it was someone who wanted to invite me to attend a networking party in downtown LA. Normally I would just hang up the phone but I decided to try to stretch the conservation as long as possible by asking questions and answering hers. There was a moment where I paused and couldn't say my universities name but managed to say it after what seem like an eternal 5 second pause. I felt really accomplished afterwards. My intention was to improve my speech with this conversation rather than trying to sound perfectly fluent and that immensely helped reduce my anxiety. I had the power to end the phone call anytime I wanted if I felt the urge overcoming me so that limited the "fear". I now actually look forward for telemarketers to call me haha.
