I stand out and am more memorable than my peers. I work in journalism, and I believe my stutter disarms interviewees and makes a lot of people open up to me. The stutter has also played a large role in making me a polite, respectful person, and that goes a long way. I truly believe stuttering gives you a competitive advantage in life. It separates you from the crowd. That separation from the norm might plague us growing up, wondering why we can't speak like our friends...but I believe in time and especially in the adult world we see how advantageous being unique is. Most people are stuck as dime a dozen, professionally speaking. Similar qualifications, they don't stand out. We've got that edge that makes people remember us. And if you don't let the stutter hold you back, it makes people respect you a lot too.
