Speech block help. I’m 20 years old, and have been stuttering since before I could remember. It’s not the traditional stutter people think of like, “D-D-D-donut”. It’s more of a block. Think of it as having to charge up a gun before you can shoot it inside a video game. It’s like that, but with speech. Since it’s not a traditional stutter that I absolutely cannot control, I can hide it pretty well By simply just not speaking when I feel like I’m not going to be able to spit it out. But drive thrus, interviews, and random questions can get hard for me since I have pressure to spit my words out fast. Trust me, I’ve heard it all. “Speak slowly” … “take a deep breath” … “stuttering isn’t real, just don’t think about it and it won’t happen” I’m at my end, i just want to speak like a normal person and not have to essentially, “charge up” my words before I can speak. I need advice.
