Honestly I think they’re throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks. Stuttering doesn’t really have a known cause. I did speech therapy in early elementary school. I don’t remember much of it but I know it helped me. Mainly because I wasn’t pronouncing most syllables correctly, I think that’s separate from the stutter. Typically I’d consider my stutter mild within the past few years, but not all the time. This subreddit is a big umbrella. If you and I were to speak to each other we’d probably notice a lot of differences between us. Yet this is the subreddit that makes sense for both of us to be in. Stuttering and other speech-language problems are so misunderstood. What we all call stuttering today might be separated into several different conditions in the future.
